For me, the current subversion version works fine, from:
http://code.google.com/p/abcde/
(abcde --version for me says "2.5.4-UNRELEASED")
The fix is in r360 & r361 (the latter is the latest revision of SVN),
which switches to using eyeD3 for UTF-8 tagging.
(I deduce that it now works out of the box from the fact that my
~/.abcde.conf contains no tagging-related settings, and yet abcde
produces beautifully-UTF-8-tagged albums.)
Developers: please could we have a release? There have been no further
checkins since r361; as demonstrated by this query, it's an issue
affecting users; and as demonstrated by my experience, the fix appears
to work fine.
