You've got it in one. We're *way* overdue a new release, but we've all
been swamped by other stuff to do. I'm hoping to find some time
shortly-ish, but I can't promise... :-/

If you'd like to help by triaging some of the existing bug reports,
that would be lovely. I'm more than happy to give out git push access
to people with time and energy to share!
