The abcde readme gives some overview of requirements for abcde. Some of them being mandatory, others alternative, others optional. I think the list isn't even complete. The normal user will be quite confused what to do.
Since abcde is incredibly flexible, it will be difficult to advise the user what exactly to install depending on his preferences. But maybe we could create a list of typical scenarios for typical environments and add them to the readme.
E.g.
ubuntu basic installation (including ogg, mp3, flac)
<packages>
automatic album art
<packages>
Anyone having any good ideas? Feel free to reply. We could collect all proposals and derive some typical installations.
Just as a start - here's my personal package list for ubuntu:
cdparanoia cd-discid flac lame mkcue mp3gain speex vorbis-tools vorbisgain id3 id3v2 bsd-mailx
and for album art:
glyrc imagemagick libmusicbrainz5-0 libmusicbrainz-discid-perl libwebservice-musicbrainz-perl
