[Abcde-users] problem with data tracks

I'm not sure if this is a problem with ripping CDs with data in track 1 or
something else.

I tried ripping the three Quake II CDs: the game and two mission packs.
These contain data in track 1 with redbook audio in subsequent tracks.
The titles are "Quake II", "Quake II: Ground Zero", and "Quake II: The
Reckoning". The first disc came up as unknown. No problem. I just fired
up Picard, got the disc ID, added that to the list of known disc IDs,
deleted abcde.b906670b/, and started over. I was very surprised to find
that the output of abcde-musicbrainz-tool and contents of
abcde.b906670b/mbdiscid differed significantly.

This is from abcde-musicbrainz-tool:
eQ25OCJ.aIPsP_Br958lErY_tf4- 11 150 182867 198679 209156 220715 233726 245493 261780 275746 287589 296742 4077

That first element (disc ID) is the same returned by Picard. But this is
what I find in abcde.b906670b/mbdiscid after an aborted run of abcde on
the same disc:
42yLjQMksYhNIfadHXIklCOoumk- 11 182867 198679 209156 220715 233726 245493 261780 275746 287589 296742 1643

On an ordinary audio CD ("One of These Nights" by The Eagles):
$ cat abcde.730a1309/mbdiscid
_mm.peR.kxCVervjTsyfQKEMTaw- 9 150 21977 43027 61165 91090 119687 141197 159085 176805 2583
$ abcde-musicbrainz-tool
_mm.peR.kxCVervjTsyfQKEMTaw- 9 150 21977 43027 61165 91090 119687 141197 159085 176805 2581

Now here's "Pure Frosting" by The Presidents of the United States of
America, which is a CD Extra:
$ cat abcde.bf0a5d0d/mbdiscid
zQ.FDbWFb85vGaLnikPjLeGIyus- 13 150 19312 34595 47686 59049 68771 84641 99394 113697 124630 137039 149997 161979 2657
$ abcde-musicbrainz-tool
zQ.FDbWFb85vGaLnikPjLeGIyus- 13 150 19312 34595 47686 59049 68771 84641 99394 113697 124630 137039 149997 161979 2655

So... What's going on here?
