[Expo-tech] File upload issues - decisions needed

Not urgent, but nearly. We should start thinking about how expo members will
upload their photos, gpslogs, videos etc.
With the new server we can't use username&password FTP I understand as only
ssh keys are acceptable to the hoster.
So I will be changing all that documentation about FTP asap.
We have these choices:
1. Ask the hoster again if we can set up a locked-down ftp server.
2. Write or acquire a Django/python file-upload script so that file
uploads are done through a webpage. Easy using a PC, less so for phone
users.
3. Educate all expo uses in the use of ssh-keygen so that they can scp
from their own phones and laptops to the server. Hah.
4. Require all expo users to use the expo laptop (which has a key
installed) and educate them in using scp to upload stuff. They will have to
transfer their stuff to the expo laptop and then also upload to the server.
No good after expo.
5. Set up a staging FTP server on an entirely different machine (I
could offer ftp://expo.klebos.net for example) and thus make only minor
changes to documentation. (Nerds can then handle the move to the real expo
server.)
6. Use a more modern system such as Dropbox, GDrive, GoogleDocs,
shared Google Photos albums for which phone apps already exist and which
expo users may already know how to use (and then have nerds move them to the
real expo server).
I reckon that most photos will be on phones so that option (6) has clear
usability advantages. After that, I reckon (5) is the most secure and least
effort for us.
In all cases, long-term storage will be on /expofiles/ and not on whatever
staging system we use.
