Yes. I did some more work on this last night, and found that the old
copy of cvs loser data I had to reinstate the early part of the
history (pre 2010) is only a checkout, not the repo, so is not
sufficient. I need to find an old copy of that. If that can't be done
approximately today I guess it'll have to wait.

I did also do some repo-munging with git-filter to remove crap, but it
seemed to make repos bigger rather than smaller, then I ran out of
time. I realise it kind of needs to be done approx today/tonight or we
give up for this year?

Oh and I changed 'cavedrawings' (tunneldata) to 'drawings', because
 the 'cave' is pretty redundant given the context.

Another update tonight.

If crap-removal is not working and I can;t find the old cvs original
then I guess we just switch to git anyway and accept that there will
be a 'you have to re-clone' day sometime next year.
