[Expo-tech] Cave Link Surface charging

The surface box has a 5 pin plug with only 4 pins.
In the box there are:-

2 of the 4 pin  plugs that fit into the cave link, one of which is
connected. Nothing distinguishes these two leads.

2 batteries only one of which connected, there are connectors to connect 3
batteries.

Questions

Can I connect the second battery?

I have assumed the 4 pin plugs do not need to be swapped to change from GSM
to charging. Please tell me if this is wrong!
