[Macchiato] Latest debian + UEFI binaries for mcbin single shot?

Hello All,
So I didn't get a response here, but did manage to build the UEFI with
18.06 branch, and install debian on an SSD using mini.iso from today.
The installation completes ok, it starts to boot from the SSD, and
then freezes at:
Loading Linux 4.17.0-1-arm64 ...
Loading initial ramdisk ...
[ 0.602314] hw perfevents: unable to count PMU IRQs
[ 2.294892] armada8k-pcie f2600000.pcie: phy link never came up
[ 2.300855] armada8k-pcie f2600000.pcie: Link not up after reconfiguration
I thought this was fixed in Jan as per Riku [1], but I'm not sure why
I see this with the latest mainline. Any hints will be great,
