Thanks - For info, I've done an in-place upgrade from my Fedora30 to
Fedora 32 - and then realised there was still only a 5.8 kernel
available, so taken a plunge on jumping early to Fedora 33 and pulled
in the 5.9.1 kernel

which finally modprobes without crashing!
