Odd. Presumably VScode is just using putty here, so they should have the same behaviour.
Does
expo at expo.survex.com:~/expoweb
or
expo at expo.survex.com:/~/expoweb
work?
Those are at least shorter and the ~ decoding is happening on the
server end so should work (and would still work if we moved expo's
home path one day for some reason).
But it's not very important. Whatever works everywhere is what we
should document, which I guess is
ssh://expo@expo.survex.com:/home/expo/expoweb
